Fire and Ice ...

According the a recent article in the JDJ, the return of technology has begun. The much-anticipated post-PC era has finally arrived, and the technology budgets will rise again ... soon. Good news, to be sure ... a return to the roaring 90s? Hmmmmm. Probably not.

In contrast, an article published in Network Computing last month points to more-of-the-same galacial growth rate in IT spending ... yes, budgets are growing. But nothing to get excited about.

I love Robert Frost's poem, "Fire and Ice," in which the means by which the world will ultimately perish is not as important as the fact that it will.

What do you think? Will 2005 mark the beginning of a raging bull market for technology? Or will a 21st century IT stagnation continue?
