Forbes Magazine recently interviewed Scott McNealy, Sun Microsystem's Chairman, about the Global Education and Learning Community (GELC). From the interview: "'Math hasn't changed since Isaac Newton,' declares Scott McNealy. So why, he asks, is California paying some $400 million annually to 'update' grade-school textbooks?" More recently, McNealy appeared on PBS' "Tavis Smiley" show. See what he said about the GELC in this video clip. McNealy, who recently stepped down after 22 years as Sun's CEO, developed an intense interest in improving education as he watched his own children go through school. He has been the driving force behind Sun's support and promotion of the GELC, and is expected to formally assume the role of GELC CEO sometime soon.
