My initial JavaONE post.. hope to talk with many of you therePosted by robogeek on May 4, 2007 at 3:33 PM PDT
So, JavaONE is next week. I'm sure you already know that, just wanted to raise the hoopla a little further. I just read an amusing posting at Javalobby Sun, Please Turn On the Light Again! wondering about the direction etc we plan to take with Java. If you've paid attention to the Ways of the Marketeer you know how they like to hold off important announcements until they can make a big splash etc. So, obviously JavaONE is our chance to make our big splash, so please consider that some announcements might have been held until we can use the big show to make the big announcements. Anyway... I've seen a number of postings from various people about the sessions they plan to attend. Unfortunately I don't have a conference pass and, uh, cannot attend any sessions. Except I did sign up with the CommunityONE event and that carries with it passes to attend a couple sessions. Additionally the CommunityONE schedule looks pretty interesting all by itself. I will be hanging out at the OpenJDK booth in the Pavilion. While there I hope to record peoples thoughts about the OpenJDK project, and I will be podcasting those recordings on my other Sun blog. If you're interested in having your thoughts recorded and sent on a Podcast, stop by the booth or if you see me walking around feel free to ask me about it.. You can also leave me a Skype voicemail at "robogeek1". On CommunityONE we have several sessions about the OpenJDK and the Mobile and Embedded projects. These should be interesting. Also interesting should be the Javaposse who is the lunchtime entertainment .. And here's the sessions I would be trying to attend if I were able to attend sessions (from the javaone 2007 session catalog): TS-7498 Liberating Java TS-7495 Open-Source Licensing Emergency Room Panel TS-2800 OpenJDK Project Report BOF-2801 OpenJDK Project Q&A: Part 1 TS-7497 Open-Source Java Projects: Meet the Sausage Makers Panel TS-7820 The Apache Harmony Project TS-7622 Java Technology Libre Panel TS-1786 Writing Games With Project Darkstar LAB-7280 Rich Client Applications Using Form Follows Function (F3) BOF-1575 AB5k: An Advanced Open-Source Java Technology-Based Widget Container TS-3160 Desktop Java Technology Today TS-3942 JSR 296: The Swing Application Framework TS-3290 Easy Deployment Is Finally Here TS-3565 Swing in a Multithreaded World TS-3165 Filthy-Rich Clients: Talk Dirty to Me TS-3548 Extreme GUI Makeover 2007 TS-3420 Form Follows Function (F3) BOF-3813 Putting a Swing Front End on a Web App TS-3489 3-D Earth Visualization with NASA World Wind TS-3723 Designing Scalable High-Performance Rich Clients from the Trenches TS-3420 Form Follows Function (F3) TS-3833 Debugging and Optimizing Swing Applications BOF-3356 Next-Generation UI Elements for Swing Applications BOF-3478 Easy Test-Driven GUI Development TS-3631 Writing Testable Desktop UIs »
