InfoWorld Reports on NetBeans Becoming Sole IDE From Sun
As reported in a recent InfoWorld article, Sun to Discontinue Developer Tools in Favor of NetBeans, Sun will stop development of Sun Java Studio Enterprise and Sun Java Studio Creator. NetBeans will be the only IDE from Sun.
Sun's Gregg Sporar, quoted in the article, summarizes the move well: "NetBeans is the common component. It is the base of all Sun software development tools." Reactions are positive, as evidenced by an analyst's observation reported by the article. Also, a reader calls NetBeans 6.0 his "preferred Java IDE." Wonderful! Those days of my collaboration with the Sun Java Studio Enterprise and Sun Java Studio Creator engineers to publish related technical articles are still fresh in my memory. I learned a lot from that experience. Life keeps marching on.
