Starting Hudson 1.222 (released June 9th), Hudson has an update center to simplify installation of plugins. So naturally I was curious about the impact of that to plugin download counts. Here's the results for the last week, from June 7th to 13th.

The total # of successful downloads (that is, HTTP status 200) was 2355. This excludes my daemon that creates update center data file, which downloads all plugins to obtain metadata in them. Of total 2355 downloads, 1249 (53%) were through the update center. Total download counts in the week before that was 1682, so the number of downloads were up 40%. Obviously the update center had a positive effect in download numbers. We'll see how this number moves as time passes.

In the Hudson dev alias there was also a discussion about opt-in based tracking of getting better statistics, like keeping track of how long a plugin has been installed, etc. If something like that would be implemented, we'd be better able to know where the problems are and how happy people are.

Finally, the following is the drill-down of which plugins are downloaded in the same time span. You can see that the downloads are fairly well spread — even the most popular one had just 9% of the total download counts.
