Resources for NetBeans users and developers
Being in a hurry today, let me just give you a quick recommendation: in addition to following my blog ;-) , there's an excellent bunch of resources related to NetBeans (both the IDE and the Platform) on DZone: http://netbeans.dzone.com - who's edited, among others, by Geertjan in person (guarantee of quality).
For instance, I've just published an article about how to implement "publish and subscribe" on the Platform, thanks to some previous work done by Wade Chandler.
So, hurry up and point your news aggregator to http://feeds.dzone.com/zones/netbeans

Do you know of any good tutorials for the Netbeans RCP? All the tutorials I come across don't work anymore. There is some subtle bug, or difference or something and I get stuck. Any ideas? Thanks, Collinby tomwheeler - 2008-10-18 10:00
There are many tutorials are at http://platform.netbeans.org/tutorials/ I know the people who write them make every effort to make them accurate. If you are having a specific problem, I recommend e-mailing them via the "Send Us Your Feedback" link at the bottom of each tutorial. If you need additional help, join the dev@openide.netbeans.org list (http://www.netbeans.org/community/lists/top.html) and ask for help there. But be specific about the problem you face so they can help you. Also, keep in mind that development of both the NetBeans IDE and Platform is rapid and so instructions in the tutorials written a few years ago may vary slightly when using a brand new version of the IDE (because the UI has changed a little, for example). This can certainly be frustrating for a new user, but you can avoid this by using a tutorial which matches the version of NetBeans you are using. This is shown as a round icon about 115 pixels in size on the right side of the first page of the tutorial (usually adjacent to where it mentions books and training on the right side navigation). This icon will say something like "Requires NetBeans 6.1" -- make sure you're using that same version of NetBeans to complete the tutorial. Hope that helps.by aberrant - 2008-10-20 08:51
@tomwheeler Thanks I'll send feedback. I REALLY want to use the platform for the project.
