Who support what with Comet or why GlassFish v3 Prelude is for you!
Today JavaLobby is publishing an article about who does what in Comet, and how. GlassFish v3 Prelude offer a lot of cool Comet features...time to try it!
Ted Goddard and I just wrote an article based on our last couple of talks on Comet. Grizzly Comet is offering more than other like:
- ICEFaces support out-of-the-box!
- GWT Support
- Async Read and Write support
- API for throttling/aggregating/filtering push messages
- Bayeux support, and Java API to be used by outside component like EJB, Servlet, JMS, etc.
- API for pushing data from EJB, Servlet, JMS, etc.
Of course you can almost do the same using Tomcat and Jetty, but you need to write much more code! Why not taking the easy path and focus on your application instead of how to push/throttle etc? Start from here. Wants to write portable application? Wait for my upcoming baby...if I can convince Sun to let the monster live by its own, with the help of its community!
