Chet Haase's BlogMarch 2006 ArchivesWeb Too? Oh.Posted by chet on March 16, 2006 at 02:48 PM | Permalink | Comments (14)I have been trying for some time to divine the true meaning of the phrase "Web 2.0". I finally get it. It's all just a big misunderstanding over pronunciation. Sure, it looks like you're supposed to say "Web Two-Dot-Oh" when it's written down. But it's actually just a chat-speak way of writing the phrase "Web too", as in: "Web applications can finally do some things that Java applications have been able to do all along too"
Of course there are plenty of things they haven't gotten to yet, like offline usage, runtime performance, development tools, ... Maybe they're saving that stuff for "Web Free" Time AgainPosted by chet on March 16, 2006 at 07:08 AM | Permalink | Comments (0)Just a quick blog note (blote? bloat?) to deref to the article and code that I just posted. About a year ago, I posted the article Timing is Everything that discussed timing, Java timers, and my new simple Timing Framework project on java.net. I've been working on the project occasionally in the meantime, and have just finished implementing a host of new, interesting features like property-setters, multi-step timing sequences, and non-linear interpolation. With all the new stuff in the project, it seemed that it was "Time Again" to write about the project. Check out the article Time Again for more information on the changes, then check out the project to get the code and use it. As always, let me know what you think. The goal here is to provide something useful and interesting now, but also to get usage and feedback and figure out what should change about the framework to make it more useful in the future. | ||
