Chet Chat: interview on artima.com

Okay, so it's not quite as cool as the interview in a language that I can't read, but it's a nice posting anyway. Frank Sommers picked my brain about Swing, Desktop, AJAX, Applets, and Romain's and my upcoming book. (Have I mentioned the book before?).

Check it out at href="http://www.artima.com/lejava/articles/state_of_swing.html.

Desktop Matters

Hey, desktop fans:

  • Tired of searching for the talks on Desktop in conferences that spout acronyms like acne?
  • Want to hear more about Swing and less about Spring? (Actually, that joke doesn't really work since there will be a talk on Spring RCP ... but at least it'll be on desktop-focused Spring!)
  • Want to eat lunch with less than 10,000 of your close, personal conference buddies?
  • Want to come to a focused conference that is only and exactly about the stuff that you need to know?

Swing expert and JavaOne "Rock Star" speaker Ben Galbraith has set up a the Desktop Matters conference that's all about Desktop:

It's March 8-9 in San Jose . There will be  speakers from lots of different companies.  Sessions on various desktop technologies. It's mostly about desktop Java, but there will also be sessions on Apollo, WPF, and Cocoa.

Come join us there; it should be a fun deep-dive into our world.

JavaPolis interview posted

There is an interview posted on parleys.com with Ted Neward talking to Romain Guy and I when we were at JavaPolis last December. Hear us wax poetic on about Desktop Java, client technologies, Antwerp, JavaPolis, and our sessions at the conference. We might possibly mention our book as well. It just has a habit of coming up in conversation.
