Review Review

I don't like to toot my own horn, but I'm happy if others happen to toot it for me.
Geertjan Wielenga has posted a review of Filthy Rich Clients on his blog.
If you're still wondering whether this book is for you, check out the review. Geertjan does the best job I've seen yet of describing the content and the reasons why any Swing developer should read it.
Or if you're still wondering what Swing is and what book I'm talking about, then I have no idea what you're doing here to begin with. But I'd encourage you to get the book anyway.

As I read the book, I keep thinking "Dang! Where was this book 2 years ago, when I had to figure it out the hard way?"
It's great for solidifying concepts that I'd half-way pieced together through various hack jobs, as well as for learning new techniques. Thanks!

I guess 2 years ago Chet was thinking the same thing and decided to do something about it :)

jwenting: Good guess - It was 2 years ago next month that I sent the initial idea to the publisher (it took another 9 months to finalize the proposal and actually start writing). I had actually wanted to do a book on Java graphics for some time, but only converged on a plausible theme ("Chet's book on Java graphics" just didn't seem catchy enough) when Romain and I started thinking about Filthy Rich Clients for our 2006 JavaOne presentation.
The rest, as they say, is hysteresis. Or hearsay. Or hysterical.
