A Distributed Compute Server for Sun Grid

Posted by dhushon on March 22, 2006 at 11:33 PM PST

The Sun's Dynamic Network Group has released the 0.1(ea) version of their Compute Server today as a Sun Grid communityproject. The compute server is distributed middleware which is designed to help move a basic set of PoJo "components" into a parallel / grid setting. The paradigm has been designed to be exceedingly simple in such a way that the basic Sun Grid Engine commands don't have to be learned by the developer, nor do the mechanics of distributed message passing. A great step forward in lowering any barrier to entry to the utility paradigm. Please do check out this project, I think that it can serve as the basis for many projects like BioJava and other distributed service frameworks.
