Hello Eamonn:
I am new to JMX. We're trying to manage a number of C++ based appliances remotely. Does JMX/Mbean provide:
a) managed objects --MBeans to monitor C++ resources?
b) What would be the connector to use here, assuming that the manager client is Java based but the appliances may be behind firewalls?
c) Has the WS-Management and SOAP connector improved enough to be ready for production environment?
d) How easy would it be to create SNMP based MBeans?
e) Would it be possible to talk over SNMP/UDP for connector?
Thanks Much,
Allen

Allen, a good place to ask your question would be the JMX forum.
