Best linux podcast of the year

I've never actually heard Mr Slackware before (i mean heard him speak), only heard about him since forever of course.

Check out this podcast - he's SUCH a cool dude, and so great to listen to - isn't it great that we're in the podcast era?! :)

You know what? There's no substitute for hearing a person talk. They say a picture speaks a thousand words. Well then a voice speaks a thousand pictures, innit.

C'mon, let's all podcast! Hey, can we upload podcast MP3's to java.net? Cos they can be quite large, like 30Mb!?

"90-minute interview with Slackware Linux creator and chief maintainer Patrick Volkerding"

Gonna have to add him to my hero list :)

  • heh heh, i just realised reviewing this, that i'm getting all web 2.0 - i mean check the title of this posting - "Best linux podcast of the year" - that is SUCH a web2.0/digg title! i'm being assimilated in front of my own eyes! ;) And leaving comments to your own articles - also very 2.0ish - maybe even 2.1 ;)

  • I wholeheartedly agree. I have never worked with Slackware, but I have followed news about it since the early days of my Linux experience. Listening him talk was very inspiring. He has, what I consider, the "classic" Linux/Open Source viewpoint. This style is laid back, not trying to impress or persuade anyone, doing what you love, trying to make the world a better place, and just putting it out there.

With so much focus recently on Linux adoption, we forget why we got into this business in the first place: options. Its so refreshing to hear someone credit other projects as much or more than their own. There is a level of respect there that is just hard to describe.
