Android Developer Challenge and Italy, another follow-up

Posted by fabriziogiudici on November 18, 2007 at 11:31 AM | Comments (3)

Guido Scorza, attorney with a specialization in laws concerning computer science and a quite a reputable profile, writes on his blog that there would be some special "escape" clauses on the italian law about contests that would make it possible for Google to extend the Android Developer Challenge to italian residents without getting into much troubles. I'm not going to quote the details as I don't feel at ease with my english in this field, but basically the "technological merits" leading to the prize assignment would be the key point.

Very good: in my previous post I hoped that some law professional looked at the case and provided a professional opinion. Thanks, mr. Scorza. Now, Google, please answer with some counter-arguments - or open up the contest!

  • Well, it looks like it's not so open, after all (http://www.infoq.com/news/2007/11/dalvik). But the contest is a matter of national pride, independent of my good or bad opinion about the technology.
