Fabrizio Giudici's BlogNASA World Wind and the Wii remote controlPosted by fabriziogiudici on August 06, 2008 at 05:07 AM | Comments (1)A few days before the summer break, at JUG Genova I was able to attend one of the most amusing meetings of the year. Gianpaolo Melis showed how to control NASA World Wind with a Wii remote control (not used as you would expect: the remote control was lying on a table, and Gianpaolo just put a few LEDs on his hands - the remote control detected the hands gestures and translated into control commands for the WWJ viewer). He also showed the capability of controlling the application with vocal commands. A pretty good presentation of some of the less used Java APIs (BTW, to read the Wii remote control bluetooth APIs were used). The project is called Motenav and available on Google Code: http://code.google.com/p/motenav/ More information at http://juggenova.net/2008/07/08/demo-di-browser-multimodale-al-prossimo-jug-meeting-il-15072008/ and http://vimeo.com/1303978 A small demo is in the video below - the red and green dots are the control points that Gianpaolo moved with his hands in the air (yes, two hands detected at the same time!).
