Designing APIs on the NetBeans Platform

After the series "Idioms for the NetBeans Platform", I've started a new series on DZone about "Designing APIs on the NetBeans Platform". This new thread is focused on a specific API of blueMarine (the Metadata API) which is self-contained and thus suitable to be discussed also for didactic purposes. As usual, this stuff is not 100% related to NetBeans - lots of design issues are discussed.
