Hudson extreme makeover!

The other day I found the Tango project, which provides a high-quality reusable icon library under the Creative Commons Share-Alike license. I like these icons so much that I decided to use it for Hudson.

Another good thing about the Tango project is that their icons come in SVG. Besides the obvious fact that you can use them with any size, SVG enables me to change icons. I'm not an artist, so I definitely can't make large changes without spoiling it, but for example I can still change colors, merge two, or remove some pieces, and the results still look very nice.

Furthermore, Tango project offers a color palette, so I can pick a few colors from it for the banner and they look nicely with icons (at least much much better than anything I can come up with on my own.) So here goes a few screen shots.

Lastly, 1.0.15 has a few minor functionality improvements, such as an ability to create a new project by copying an existing one, more prominent key links, and little auto-completion assist for some of the form fields.

  • Hi Kohsuke,

I've been trying to find more information on this project but the documentation section seems to be empty. Could you tell me how Hudson is different from CruiseControl and AntHill? Does it have Subversion support? Why is this tool the best?

    Cheers,
    GB

  • Hey Kohsuke!
Awesome project. We just migrated from lunt (which wasnt working) to yours, and had no troubles at all. Very pretty, easy to use and extremely effective. We are very impressed!

  • GB,

I'm interested in expanding documents, but I just don't know which area it should go into. Perhaps it would be nice if I can record a demo and make it available on the internet?

I think the main advantage of Hudson over CruiseControl is its ease of configuration/installation, and the fact that you can have one centralized Hudson handle multiple projects. When used in a group that depends on each other, people can come to Hudson for the latest versions of all their dependent projects. For AntHill, I really don't konw much to comment.

Oh, and yes, Hudson supports Subversion.

  • Thank you for an encouraging note, Joe. It's always a pleasure to see people using something I developed.
