IPS maintainer for Hudson wantedPosted by kohsuke on January 24, 2008 at 5:39 PM PST
OpenSolaris has been working on a new packaging system called IPS, and Ludo told me that they are looking for projects that are interested in contributing packages. We thought it'd be pretty easy to package up Hudson, since it's just a single war file that can run on its own without any container. The large part of it, which is to install Hudson as a service to the service management framework in Solaris, is already taken care of by Paul Oswald. So I'm wondering if there's any Hudson users out there who'd be interested in helping us push this through. I think you'd gain valuable hands-on experience about how open-source communities work. »

I think being able to communicate with other folks in OpenSolaris is probably the biggest part. You'd also have to know the basic Unix, but I don't think you need to be a guru or anything.
