JDBC 4.0 and Java SE 6 have left the stable

Well, we have made it. Java SE 6 and JDBC 4.0 are now final and have been released. It has been an interesting and rewarding adventure!
Java SE 6 SDK bundles Java DB which provides a JDBC 4.0 driver. I suspect we will see quite a few JDBC 4.0 drivers soon and I will update this blog with the latest info.
JDBC 4.0 brings many new features such as improved LOB support, SQL XML data type support as well as many clarifications to the previous versions of the JDBC specification.
I once again, want to thank the members of the JDBC 4.0 expert group for their efforts in making the release of JSR 221 a success.
Once we catch our breadth, we will be looking at ways to continue to improve JDBC going forward and if you have suggestions, let me know.
Regards
Lance

Is the JDBC 4.0 bundled with JDK6 usable? I am trying to include BaseQuery and it doesn't exist, and it doesn't seem to be in the base Java 6 API, according to the online Javadoc and according to my Netbeans running on JDK6.
What gives? :) Is it in the JEE sdk? Is there an extra jar coming?

Nevermind, I read your post about the reference implementation.

Hi,
Very happy to say that we have our jdbc 4.0 driver implementation ready to be released. I would like to know whether a certification program for the JDBC 4.0 driver exists for j2ee compatibility. Come to know that Keylabs (as detailed in http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/certification.html) are no longer the certification agency for Sun. Could you please give us guidelines on the same?
Also, if there is no such certification agency at present, we have plans go in that direction, ie acting as the certification agency. Looking forward to hear your comments.
Regrds,
Tom

Adding to the above post. In a very short time we will be releasing our beta version of the driver, aveConnect 4.0, in our website, www.aveConnect.com. The new version is going to be fully compatible with JDBC 4.0 specification and all the relevant features to be supported for MS SQL Server would be met. Regards, Tom
