Java DB upgraded in Glassfish V2

Java DB, Sun's supported distribution of Apache Derby, has been upgraded from Java DB 10.1.3.1 which was bundled with Glassfish V1, to Java DB 10.2.2.

  • it's good news to have the latest and greatest Derby features and performance. But in the JavaDB distribution, I think there is an important concern of stability and standardization. No good if each build of Glassfish / SJSAS, Sun JDK, and perhaps other packages that bundle the JavaDB, contains a different Derby core, with a different set of features (so certain DDL commands will work here and not there, datafiles won't move to other setups etc.). I hope Sun will synchronize things, for example, JDK 6.0u3 is just around the corner, so I fully expect that this JDK will bundle the exact same JavaDB that's in Glassfish v2 (and the corresponding update of SJSAS / Java EE 5 SDK).
