OMiC - Apple Mail Plugin which read winmail.dat files

Posted by lordy on August 29, 2006 at 05:00 AM | Comments (2)

This time for all the Mac Developer with coworkers who use Microsoft Outlook and send you mails with winmail.dat attachments.

This winmail.dat attachments can contain other files or schedule information. The mail contain the schedule information also in plain text, so this is no problem, only more work because of the copy&past it into your iCal. But if it contains other files, you need a extra program.

To make this simpler, I create a Plugin for Apple Mail, OMiC.

I decide to publish it as shareware, to get some money during my soon starting mandatory military services. You know, the state does not pay its soldiers so well ;).

  • This is an EXTREMELY useful plugin, but sadly doesn't seem to work for OSX 10.4 Tiger. Mail.app complains about the plugin not being compatible with OSX 10.4 and winmail.dat files are assigned to GraphiXConverter instead. Any chance of Tiger support in the near future..? We're running a mixed environment and this would be a life saver...
