Google Testing the OpenSolaris Operating System?Posted by marinasum on September 21, 2006 at 12:11 PM PDT
According to a Computerworld article, Google Testing Sun's OpenSolaris, Sources say, Google is evaluating Sun's Solaris Operating System as a possible replacement for the Google network of Linux servers. Even though it's anybody's guess what the outcome will be, this move is still quite a triumph for open source and for the Solaris Operating System. The statistics speak for themselves: Since its release in January 2005, the Solaris 10 Operating System has attracted over 5 million registered users. The article calls that "something of a midlife resurgence." Nice! »
