Trumpets! As highlighted in today's Java Today, OpenDS, an open-source LDAP directory service written in the Java language, has released its version 1.0.0. Among the key capabilities are—

Standard and experimental LDAP extensions, hence maximum interoperability with LDAP clients
Rich APIs
Support of multimaster replication model
