Posted by mode on May 11, 2007 at 12:41 PM | Comments (4)

Release 2 of the Sun Web Developer Pack is now available. You can get it here. Some things that have changed since Release 1 are -
  • Propono - a sub project of ROME that makes it easy to build an atom client and also add Atom publishing protocol (APP) support to your application.
  • NetBeans 6 support for REST implementation.
  • Support for Tomcat 6. We now have support to use Tomcat 6 as a container for the SWDP
  • Bug fixes to all the components that were there in release 1.
Give it a shot and send feedback to us.

  • Too bad that the download site is screwed up for Firefox 2!

  • Aditionally... the Win32 installer doeesn't work, at least not for me. Tested on both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003 SP1, identical behavior. I launch the installer, pick my JDK 1.6.0u1 (tried 1.5.0 too), No Web Container Integration, say go, and it hags after checking disk space - hiding the window but keeping a java process open and idle.

  • We just saw the bug as well. As a workaround for now you need to select GlassFish container and the installer will work. We are working to provide a quick fix for the issue.
