Posted by rah003 on December 31, 2008 at 06:31 AM | Comments (8)
The end of year 2008 comes really close and here comes also this year's last release of SwingX. The SwingX-0.9.5 is available for download at SwingLabs download page or alternatively also from build server. The main focus of this release was bugfixing and we are delivering nearly 40 fixes in the release. Read the release notes for more details.
On behalf of the whole team I would like to thank you for continuous support and for using the SwingLabs libraries. Happy new Year!

I've heard elsewhere SwingX is not being supported by Sun Microsystems anymore, and that it signifies the end of active development. Is it true, or I read the April's Fool Newspaper?

@mac_systems
0.9.5 is in java.net maven repo now https://maven2-repository.dev.java.net/source/browse/maven2-repository/trunk/www/repository/org/swinglabs/swingx/0.9.5/
Sorry for the delay.
@arturotena
Project SwingX is still supported by Sun. We have hardware for the build server and for the web, domain and all the support from Sun. There are 4 active commiters and few more who occasionally commit some code, plus there are number of people active in the incubator project. Sun was paying for one of the commiters to work on SwingX full-time, this is the only thing that is not true anymore for now. Project is alive and development continues.

Any news yet on the domain & new improved build server yet? from Alex I'd guess?

You can ask Alex ;)
All I know from Will who is in charge to the hardware is that migration will happen in January. For now everything seems to be pretty stable with no single issue over last 3 weeks or so, so as far as I'm concerned everything is fine.
The domain transfer will likely not happen before new HW, and even afterwards it might take a while since there were some legalities involved.

I as a person dont really give much hoofs about JavaFX. Swing and SwingX have constantly put food on my plate and its sooooooooo easy for me to use. SwingX has made my GUI's look very nicer. Swing to me is a mature framework already and thats what brings me to java.net and the forums to find latest stuffs and all....
Maybe in a few yrs time, i would be using FX. I'm reading it tho....
Thanks for the updates
