Lucene is probably one of the best pieces of software that I've come across in a long time. Although the concepts underlying Lucene and text searching are complicated, the API that it provides really does hide away this complexity. I integrated Lucene into my blog (http://www.simongbrown.com/blog/2003/05/28.html#a1054114426000) and all-in-all it only took a couple of hours. Of course, the other thing to mention is that searches are *fast*. Lucene really is recommended. |
