The Java Power Tools book got a five-star review on Javalobby: here are some quotes:

  • "I was just blown away seeing how thoroughly John covered each and every tool"
  • "The book is enjoyable, extremely well organized and covers a wide range of open source tools needed for any successful software development life cycle. I would recommend Java Power Tools to anyone writing Java."
  • "Java Power Tools can be used as an introduction to various technologies and also as a complete and easy-to-use reference work...I have not read another book that combines the two aspects as thoroughly as Java Power Tools does."

Congratulations! I was just reading that article a few minutes ago because I've been wondering if I should buy separate books on Maven, Subversion, etc. or this one book. My concern was how much detail it goes into since there are 30 tools covered. The javalobby article says there are 100 pages on Maven so it sounds like it will be quite comprehensive. I don't think I'll read this one cover-to-cover though (over 900 pages!)
