And GlassFish v3 is Here

Posted by kalali on December 17, 2009 at 2:42 PM PST

The long awaited and the most looked upon version of GlassFish released today. GlassFish v3 fully implements Java EE 6 specification which means EJB 3.1, Servlet 3, JAX-RS, JPA 2, Contexts and Dependency Injection for Java EE, Bean validation, Java EE profiles and so on.

Tomcat? Jetty?

Pardon my ignorance, but doesn't Glassfish (and other JEE containers) embed an actual servlet container like Tomcat or Jetty? Where does the actual Servlet 3.0 implementation lie?

Yeah, I'm kind of curious

Yeah, I'm kind of curious about that, too. I know it can't be Tomcat, because Tomcat still doesn't support the new servlet API.
