Hot Topic Seminar on Metro and Jersey
On Tuesday evening in Sun campus at Youga, I did a talk on Metro and Jersey for two hours. There were perhaps 40 to 50 people (including a Hudson committer who came straight from the airport after a vacation to Hawaii, and a junior-high school student who's a frequent participant to this "hot topic seminar" series.)
Most of them who were there didn't know much about Metro, so I did a general overview about Metro and its strong points, and a few demos showing how to use NetBeans to create web services and configure Metro features. Hopefully I convinced them that it's not as hard as it may seem. Even among those who have never used web services, the perception of SOAP web services as being complex was quite pervasive.
I also added an introduction of Jersey to my talk. There was also a substantial interest to Jersey among participants.
After the talk, I met "Jacksparrow"-san, who has been actively involved in the localization of GlassFish to Japanese. He told me he is also interested in localizing Metro, so I promised to hook him up with the Metro team.
