Today marks an exciting milestone for the IDE folks at Sun. It's the launch of the Early Access release of Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8, an all-encompassing IDE of numerous capabilities for building, debugging, testing, deploying, and tuning Web applications and Web services.

Since December 2004, I've been working closely with many dedicated, knowledgeable, and capable engineers on the Java Studio Enterprise development team, mostly to cowrite technical articles. These folks are subject-matter experts
in many areas: virtual collaboration, UML, the Java platform, Web services, security, debugging, application architecture. It's been a delightful and enlightening experience, if only because the sky is the limit as to how much I can learn from them.

Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8 represents the brain child of those experts. I
invite you to take a look at the Early Access release and try it out:

Do air your comments afterwards please: Tell the development team your experience, impressions, likes, dislikes at the Sun Java Studio Enterprise forum. Your take will be crucial as Sun refines this IDE for general availability in the fall.
