A recent eWEEK article, based on an interview with Simon Phipps, Sun's chief open-source officer, explains that in simple terms, citing the Solaris Operating System as an example.Also, Simon believes that the IDE development process has a way to go yet and that "[n]either the NetBeans environment nor the Eclipse environment is completely ideal for growing rich ecosystems." I'd like to sound out my engineer and marketing colleagues on their take. But progress is in the horizon—no disputing that!
