Authorizing Users With Identity Services in OpenSSO

Posted by marinasum on November 28, 2007 at 8:28 AM PST

My mid-October posting about Part 1 of an SDN article series on identity services in OpenSSO, specifically on authentication, elicited a few positive comments and questions. Part 2 on authorization is now live.In this part, the same sample application in Part 1 applies. You're shown how to further configure OpenSSO so that authenticated users can perform tasks for which they have been authorized. The steps are short and simple. The article also includes a brief section on troubleshooting tips.

For more background, see Sun identity architect Pat Patterson's posting. As always, Pat has a lot of insight to share.

Many thanks to engineer coauthors Lakshman Abburi and Aravindan Ranganathan. It was wonderful to have them to count on!

Stay tuned for Parts 3 and 4, due to be published in early 2008.
