ACM Queue: A Discussion With Three Software Engineering Experts
ACM Queue just published Part 1 of a two-part series on software engineering: an interview with Steve Bourne, Eric Allman, and Bryan Cantrill, three experts on the subject matter. The Q&As center on "the bread and butter of every developer's life, tools and technologies, and how the process of software development has changed (or not changed) with the rise of certain popular development methodologies, such as Agile and open source."
Among the topics discussed are IDEs, hierarchies, testing, and debugging. Sun's Bryan Cantrill says, "The best software is always developed by those who actually need it themselves." Sounds right on!
