The Apache OFBiz Book
Every once in a while I get asked to review a book.
This time it has been the Apache OFBiz Development: The Beginner's Tutorial by Jonathan Wong and Rupert Howell.
While Wong and Howell have done some seriously complex work with OFBiz, the greatest failing of the book is its lack of attention to the audience.
Let me make it more clear. This book cannot make up its mind whether it is a functional requirements description for those who are developing Apache OFBiz itself, a simple manual for those who are using it at a naive user level, or a manual for those heavy duty users who need to know something specific about some marginal function.
Perhaps, the authors can split and improve this book into three separate books for those three separate audiences.
I would have liked the first book to be in a simple manual form for the naive user because I've not seen one yet.
Naturally, it is good to see that the authors show how to use Java DB (Apache / Derby) with OFBiz.
