Need a mind map?
The other day I was looking for some software to create mind maps and friend suggested I look at XMind.
I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only is this application good looking and written in java (running standalone or as plugin from Eclipse). It is also designed and developed with usability in mind. If you are used to touch typing and don't need to look at the keyboard while typing, this is a right application for you. You can edit or navigate through nodes without having to touch your mouse single time which makes it perfect for creating notes during meetings or presentations. You don't need to look at the screen more then briefly every now and then just to confirm that everything you wrote is all right. This way you can keep focused at topic at hand and spend even less time doing your notes then you would have when writing your notes on paper.
And there's bunch of other very sweet and useful features like sharing the maps and others. If you are using mind maps extensively and haven't seen this little app at work yet, I suggest you give it a try.
