New Java.net Project for Japex

Posted by spericas on January 2, 2006 at 9:10 AM PST

I've talked about the Japex Micro-benchmark Framework a few times in my blog during the last couple of months. Japex has experienced tremendous growth during the last few months, to the point of deserving its own project at Java.net (up until now it was part of the Fast Infoset project). This is the official announcement for the creation of this new project, so please stop by and join us!

There's also a new logo for the project:

The name Japex stands for "Java Apex". In motorsports lingo, the apex of a curve is the theoretical point to aim at when making a turn to achieve the fastest possible time (In practice, it's a bit more complicated than that, e.g. sometimes a late apex is preferrable, but you get the idea). By analogy, the Japex framework can be used to ensure that your applications hit the right apexes in all turns, i.e. achieve their maximum performance potential.

So please come and visit us and give yourself a chance to take Japex for a spin. Happy New Year and, as always, Happy Benchmarking!
