Welcome to the Java Enterprise Community!

With the official release of the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE platform) 1.4 in November 2003 and with the growing success of the Java Desktop and Web Services and XML communities on java.net, a number of us at Sun thought "hey, wouldn't it be great to have a community on java.net centered around J2EE applications, components and tools?"

Crawling through the java.net project areas and incubators, we found that people are already contributing dozens of these, but are lacking a home on java.net to bring them all together. We set out to create a place for J2EE software developers to host their projects and find people with expertise and similar interests.

Projects in the Java Enterprise community start out in the enterprise-incubator and graduate to the java-enterprise project once they have their first release. An enterprise-bootstrapper project aims to help get you started with your enterprise projects quickly by providing sample templates for your HTML and project structure. This also helps give a consistent look and feel to the projects in the community. There are links scattered throughout the community with information about how to submit a project or reparent an existing project to this community. Feel free to contact any of the community leaders if you need any help navigating the site.

I am truly excited about this community and its possibilities! Be sure to keep checking the Java Enterprise community homepage for news about the community and its projects.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what we, as a community, can create!
