We've changed the front page of java.net between now and July 6 to host our coverage for this year's JavaOne Conference.
In the middle, below this daily editor's note you will find highlighted blogs, forum postings and news items. We have added some guest bloggers from java.sun.com for the conference to our java.net webloggers. We considered isolating each category into separate sections the way we usually do on the front page, but to stimulate the conference experience of a big jumble of sensory overload and so we've collected them all in the middle column with the source listed at the end of the blurb.
How do you get involved if you are not a blogger? We've set up the JavaOne Forum. Any registered member can post there and we will be featuring posts here on the front page. In addition we are adding news stories from various feeds into the mix.
We hope you enjoy, participate in, and get something from, this year's java.net coverage of JavaOne.
In the right column we are featuring announcements of new projects and communities being launched here on java.net. In honor of Apple's WWDC taking place right across the street from JavaOne we have launched the Mac Java community. Java Desktop is on fire - look at all of the projects they have added. JAI, Java 3D, JDNC (Java Desktop Network Components), and JDIC (JDesktop Integration Components).
Have opinions about the future J2SE releases? Follow the link in the right column to a brief survey. I will rant about the number five some other day.
Most of the right column is occupied by a live feed of weblogs, forum posting, and news items. We don't filter this feed in any way and present the latest postings. The center column presents some of the highlights, but all of our blog entries and JavaOne Forum postings appear in the right column.
