java.net Election Announcement
One of our Fairness Board seats is up for election this year. The seat has a two year term and we will start the nomination process next week. We have created a voting project to facilitate the election. You can find details and instructions on this election there.
All members are encouraged to get involved in this election. If you are interested in being on the Fairness Board, then you may nominate yourself. All members should mark their calendars for the election to make sure they remember to vote.
Next week will begin a two week nomination process, from June 20 - July 3, and all members are eligible. The 2nd week of nominations will be during Java One. The candidates will be announced during the week of July 5th. The election will take place from July 11 to July 17.
We will use a forum for public nominations and a mail list for a private ballot.
Complete information, along with the schedule of the election, can be found in the voting project. More information on the role of the Fairness Board and voting on java.net can be found in our governance.
Rob Clark currently holds the seat that is up for election. We want to thank Rob, and all of the Board members for being actively involved in java.net's governance and their service to the community. There are currently no restrictions on multiple terms, so Rob can be nominated for re-election if he chooses.
A strong community is built upon active participation of it's members. This election presents a great opportunity for java.net members to get more involved.
