This month's tip
Although this month's tip is entitled, "Internalizing Your Portlets", you can use resource bundles for non-internalized portlets.
Why would you want to? Well, for one, it would give you a central place to put all of your messages. Two, you can be assured that you don't have similar yet different messages in your application. If you say it one way in one part of the application, why not say it the same way in another part of the application. And third, if you later decide that you want to internationalize your application so that you can move your application to different users of the world, you'll be that much more ahead, making it quite easy to provide other parts of the world access to your application.
One more point is that if you use resource bundles for your messages and later find a misspelled word, you only have to change it in one place and it will affect all of the places in the application that are using that message.
If you wish to learn more about internationalizing your application or just want to provide the output of your portlets using resource bundles, check out this month's tip.
