JAXB RI 2.1 EA1 is out

Posted by kohsuke on September 15, 2006 at 5:49 PM PDT

I just posted the early access release of the JAXB RI 2.1. This version includes all the things that I've been talking about recently, with a few last minute bug fixes and several user contributions.

Now, those of you who are conservative might be thinking that you'd rather wait before this thing goes final, so I'm going to tell you why you want to download the 2.1 EA1 instead of using 2.0.2:

  1. XJC in 2.1 EA1 can be used to generate code that runs on your existing production JAXB 2.0 runtime — just add "-target 2.0" to your command line or add target="2.0" to your ant task. In this way, you can enjoy the latest bug fixes and XJC improvements without changing any of your runtime.
  2. The runtime in 2.1 EA1 can run your existing 2.0 applications. No change is needed to your application. In this way, you'll get the most stable JAXB RI ever (with several error diagnostic improvements.)

So, just head over to the website and download it! Finally, as usual the jars are in the maven repository (use 2.1-EA1 for the version number), and I also posted a release of the jaxb2-reflection library that goes with this EA1.
