Sun OpenSSO Enterprise In the Coming Year

Posted by marinasum on February 23, 2009 at 10:13 AM PST

Sun senior product line manager Daniel Raskin and director of engineering Jamie Nelson, both on access and federation management, recently held a Webinar on the 12-month roadmap of Sun OpenSSO Enterprise, the commercial release of OpenSSO. In a posting, Daniel points to the presentation, which, including the Q&As at the end, runs for approximately an hour.Sounds long, but it's well worth your time. Here are a few areas that the Webinar addresses:

  • Access management: key issues and evolution
  • Sun's approach, which focuses on simplicity, ease of use, and compliance for both internal and external applications
  • Sun's solutions for the various scenarios: internal authorization, single-partner federated single sign-on, Web services

A major OpenSSO deployment is Verizon Wireless's: "40,000,000 users, 1,000,000 logins per day, and peaks at 4,000 logins per minute." Wow.
