Online Maven training - coming soon to a PC near you!
If you are on the lookout for some good Maven training, but can't justify travelling to a training center in another city, then Sonatype might have the answer.
Starting next week, Sonatype is proposing its core Maven training material online. The online format gives you the same quality content and real-time access to the instructors as the classroom equivalent, but without all the hassles of travel. No need to book flights, hotels, and rental cars or miss entire days from the office, all you need is a high-speed internet connection and a computer with WebEx capabilities.
There are two courses to choose from. Each consists of two 4-hour online sessions. The first module, MVN-101 Maven Mechanics covers Maven installation and configuration and basic Maven theory and practice. This course will give you a solid grounding in the Maven Project Object Model (POM) and in fundamental Maven concepts such as the Maven lifecycle, dependency management and multi-module projects.
The second module, MVN-201 Development Infrastructure Design, gets more detailed. It covers topics such as build profiles, automated code quality metrics and reporting, web development with Maven, using Groovy scripting in the Maven build process, using and managing the Nexus Enterprise repository, automating the release process, and integrating with Hudson.
The classes are run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm PST. The course material is top notch, and has been elaborated by and with contributions and reviews from some of Sonatype's best Maven authors and experts. And I did some work on the material as well ;-). I will be facilitating most of the sessions, though some might be run by other trainers from Sonatype.
Both modules are very cool - in my (totally unbiased :-)) opinion, you really should do both to get a solid grounding in Maven - it's the equivalent of a two-day course in all. So what are you waiting for? Sign up today!
